Jayantilal R. Patel of Lawrenceville, NJ passed away Monday, June 27, 2022 at the age of 93 years.
Jayantilal Patel, eldest son of Ranchhodbhai & Surajben (from the village of Palana, Gujarat, India) was born in a small village of Luwero Uganda in 1929. At a very young age of 10, he went to India for his formative and College education.
Jayantilal graduated with a degree in Commerce from the University of Bombay – Baroda Division. He married Kantaben (aka Vimalaben) Chunibhai Patel of Anand, Gujarat at the very young age of 16. He moved back to Uganda after college where he dabbled in bicycle business and car dealership before settling for a career in the Insurance business by joining the New India Insurance Co. branch in Kampala, Uganda.
Jayantilal was a keen sportsman who played chess, badminton, tennis, volleyball, table tennis and cricket. However, his passion was bridge where he participated successfully in tournaments.
In 1969, Jayantilal felt the political conditions were getting worse after Uganda got independence from the British. He applied for a Green Card to migrate to the USA primarily for the promise of a better future for his children. His three sons – Mukesh, Akshay & Shodhan went on to become a CPA, an Engineer and a Physician respectively. He worked in the Property and Casualty business his entire career in the US. While his kids were in college, he enlisted for Professional Degree as a CPCU by attending evening classes.
Jayantilal’s two brothers reside in Marlton NJ – Rameshbhai & Vinodbhai. His sister Taraben resides in England. He leaves with a legacy of a sharp mind, kind and welcoming nature, and a fondness for following sports teams in the NY/NJ area. He also loved to read and kept up with current events.
Jayantilal R. Patel is predeceased by his the love of his life Kantaben Patel, who passed away August, 8, 2016.
Jayantilal is survived by Son Mukesh, his wife Sulekha, grandsons Eric (wife Robin) & Mark (wife Mallory), and great grandchildren Mia, Max, Christopher & Nathan.
Son Akshay, his wife Tammy, Granddaughters Serina, Jenny & Nora, and grandchildren Nicole.
Son Shodhan, his wife Nayana, & Grandsons Hursh, Drew & Roshan.
Brothers Rameshbhai and Vinodbhai Patel, Sister Taraben Patel, as well as many other extended family members and friends.
Funeral services for Jayantilal R. Patel will take place Thursday, June 30, 2022 from 9:30-11:30am at Franklin Memorial Park. Frankin Memorial Park is located at 1800 Route 27 in North Brunswick, NJ.
