Manoj Kumar Pal was born in Balarambati, West Bengal, India, on December 1, 1941, to an educated Bengali family. He was top of his class in high school and attended Bengal Engineering (BE) College in Kolkata, India, where he was a gold medalist. His academic achievements gave him the opportunity to come to the United States in 1971 to pursue a masterโ€™s degree and professional engineering (PE) license in electrical engineering.

Manoj initially came to Cleveland, OH, and then lived in Jackson Heights, Queens, until eventually settling with his wife and two sons in Edison, NJ. He also sponsored his two brothers, Ranajit and Chandra, to come to the United States. If not for his efforts, our families would not be in the United States today.

During his career, Manoj worked for a number of renowned employers including Bechtel, Foster Wheeler, Raytheon, and the Port Authority of NY & NJ. He was active with the BE College Alumni Association of New Jersey, and frequently attended Bharat Sevashram Sangha in South Brunswick, NJ. He spent most of his spare time in his backyard garden, where every year he grew a wide variety of vegetables.

Manoj Pal is survived by his wife, Jharna Pal, sons Sudeep and Rajib Pal, daughter-in-law Sarah Ellen Pal, granddaughters Asia Ann, Kyra Ann, and Sophie Ellen Pal, grandson Dylan Kumar Pal, his two sisters Arati and Pratima Pal, and three brothers Mohan Lal, Ranajit Kumar, and Chandra Kanta Pal.

Funeral services for Manoj Pal will take place Tuesday, April 12, 2022 from 9:30-11:30am at Franklin Memorial Park. Franklin Memorial Park is located at 1800 Route 27 in North Brunswick, NJ. The family requests that all guests please wear white clothing to honor Hindu funeral traditions (no black).

    Sejo Kaku was in constant touch with us. He used to talk with us very intimately. I shall have an everlasting memory of Sejo Kaku in my heart. I offer my pronam to him.

  5. It is shocking. Couple of weeks back I spoke to him. I promised that I will positively meet him when I next go to US. I was his room mate when we were studying at B. E college. I am feeling very bad. I donโ€™t have any languages to console them. Only I pray to God that HE gives the strength to bear this loss. I pay sincere homage to him. I also pray let his soul remains in peace in the heavenly abode

  8. A void has been created in Pal family due to the departure of Sejo Mama. I remember my last conversation with him through video calling in 2021 where he talked with me with a smiling face which I have captured in my mobile camera. He had a very pleasing personality and a very caring attitude towards all. I took my first rice at 6 months of age from his hand. I pay my sincere homage to him. May his soul rest in peace in the lap of God.
